50 Trees for 50 Years

Fifty Trees for Fifty Years

One large tree can provide a days supply of oxygen for four people.

In 2018 the Lake County Park & Recreation Department celebrated our 50th anniversary. As a part of that celebration, we have committed to planting 50 trees in one year. Throughout our parks there are countless trees being enjoyed today all because our predecessors planted them 50 years ago, and we want to do the same for park patrons 50 years from now.

There are several ways you can celebrate with us, and help us achieve this $10,000 goal.

  • Donate money to the Tree Fund.
    • Donations can be mailed or brought to the department's Main Business Office:
Lake County Parks, 8411 E. Lincoln Hwy. Crown Point, IN 46307. Please indicate "50 Trees" in the memo or with an attached note.
    • Online Donation coming soon
  • Fund-raise in your office or classroom
    • Penny Wars, Bake-Offs, Casual Friday Competitions, or whatever your creative fundraiser is, we're happy to work alongside you to plant more trees!
    • We can provide printed information, facts about trees, and more.
    • Your class or team will have the opportunity to help plant the tree that you helped make possible!
    • To make this happen, please email us with "50 trees" in the subject line.
  • Purchase Lake County Parks 50th t-shirt, "Get Out. Go Play. Explore" sticker, or "I <3 Lake County Parks" cup at the Deep River County Park visitor center.

  • Get 'em in the ground
    • As planting season approaches, stay tuned for pop-up tree planting days!

We're open to unique collaborations and new ideas!
