Buckley Homestead Corn Maze 2009

2009 Corn Maze Theme is CORNUCOPIA with plenty of twists, turns and surprises

Make your way through a life-size puzzle of corn when about ten acres of cornfield are cut into a maze featuring a CORNUCOPIA.  What’s a cornucopia?  It's a great horned-shaped container that signifies an abundance of fruits, flowers, and vegetables.  Also called a horn of plenty, it symbolizes prosperity.  The Buckley Cornucopia represents plenty of family adventure.   Join the challenge by finding all the clues and answering the multiple choice questions.  Divide into teams and see who finds their way out first.  Which team can answer the most Buckley Challenge Questions?  For weekday group reservations see group information elsewhere in this Pathfinder issue.

Information and Safety Issues

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by someone over 18.  Underage groups must be supervised by an adult.

  • Please stay on the pathways. Don’t cut through the corn stalks or run through the maze. It is a corn field after all. The terrain can be uneven and there may be corn or stubble on the trail.
  • Respect others in the maze and put your trash in a garbage can or take it out with you.
  • These are obvious, but we’ll state them anyway – No Smoking, Alcohol, Glass, or Dogs
  • It generally takes a little more than an hour to find all the clues.

  • You may stay in the maze as long as you like or as little.

  • Groups and school tours may schedule weekday adventures that include educational and fun puzzle sheets (see information below).
  • Reserved/School tours may schedule both the Buckley Historic Tour and the Buckley Maze. Bring your lunch and make a day of it on the farm.

  • This is a great hands-on learning experience for children. With assistance, even young students can learn to follow the map and navigate the natural trails. Challenging and fun questions are placed throughout the maze. Part of the fun is finding the questions and getting the correct answers.
  • Information for Leaders: Bus parking is in the lot just to the west of the corn maze. Shelters for lunch are located adjacent to the parking lot. Please be prepared for rainy weather. Remember, too, that it gets warm in the maze. Although water is available, you may ask your students to bring a water bottle. Sunscreen and hats are recommended. Restrooms are located at the Visitor Center near the parking lot. We recommend that there are enough chaperones to accompany groups of 6 to 8 students. This number depends on the age of the students. After a brief introduction to the corn maze, the students will enter the maze in groups and the fun begins.
