Reenactors from all over the Midwest, and some from as far away as Canada, don authentic uniforms and use restored military equipment to portray that most important time period in our history. Throughout the weekend, the park comes to life with memories of the war years, both military and on the homefront. If you are a veteran, history enthusiast, or would just like to learn more about the 1940s era, this is the place for the entire family. It's wonderful for families and students.  ATTENTION REENACTORS Click here for Reenactor information

"Phones for Soldiers"

Turn in your old cell phone so soldiers can call home

For every old cell phone turned in under this program a 100 minute pre-paid calling card is sent overseas for Soldiers to use to call home.

This year every National Guard unit in Illinois is assisting in this effort and so are the Lake County Parks and the Buckley Homestead WWII Tribute sponsoring units.  The goal is to collect 1,500 phones.  WWII reenactors are encouraged to bring their phones, as well.  Help us make our goal..
