Located at Buckley Homestead, about 1 mile south of the barnyard, is the Calumet Astronomy Center. The center includes the Northwest Indiana Robotic (NIRo) Telescope and the Thomas Conway Observatory.

Lake County Parks & Rec is lucky to call the Calumet Astronomical Society a partner, and they host regular events at Thomas Conway Observatory. Each event is contingent upon clear weather. Program cancellation will be updated on their Facebook page.
