Christmas Bird Count
The Christmas Bird County (CBC) is a long-standing program of the National Audubon Society, with over 100 years of community science involvement. It is an early winter bird census, where thousands of volunteers across the U.S., Canada, and many countries in the Western Hemisphere go out over a 24-hour period on one calendar day around Christmas to count birds. You can participate in one of two CBC circles in Lake County. Contact the Sand Ridge Audubon Society for the circle that includes Gibson Woods and part of north Lake County (date is late December); for southern Lake County (county date is Saturday, January 2, 2021), please contact Loyce Fandrei at lafan2018@rocketmail.com.
